England and Wales have slightly different bank holidays to both Scotland and Northern Ireland. There are typically eight days’ bank holiday in England and Wales each year though in 2022 there were nine days after Her Majesty’s Government granted the whole of the UK an additional day to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Friday 3rd June. The late May bank holiday was also moved to Thursday 2nd June so we could further benefit from a long weekend.
